Fun Times, Done with Finals, Home for Christmas!!!

This was Thanksgiving, and some of this Christmas break. We went up to Bald Peak and built a jump. I got like 3 feet of air, and I landed it!

Short story, by Maria Burnham

There Was An Old Woman; or, The curious incident of the missing insulation
a story based (loosely) on true events

This story is lovingly dedicated to the memory of EDNA, who really liked wallpaper and renovations.

Once upon a summer, there was an old woman.
Once upon a summer, there was an old woman with a garage and a Big Idea.
The old woman was handy with her hands, so she took her garage and her Big Idea and with her hands she made... a brand new kitchen!
It was very hot that summer so the old woman said, "I will make this kitchen cool and airy. That way I will never feel too hot while I am cooking."
She put in windows.
She laid big red stones on the ground.
She installed appliances and counter tops.
When she was done, the kitchen was everything she had imagined. But she had forgotten one thing:

Insulation.

"no matter," the old woman said. "I will just add a fireplace. Then, when it gets cold in the winter, I will build a fire to keep me warm."
The old woman enjoyed her cool kitchen all throughout the summer.
She even enjoyed it in the fall.
But when the winter came, she realized that her kitchen was Too Cold!
The fireplace did not keep the room warm enough. Working hard did not keep her warm enough, either.
The olive oil froze in the cupboards.
The ice cream did not melt when she left it on the counter tops.
Icicles hung on the inside of the windows.

The old woman hated the very idea of cooking in her cold kitchen. Every time she felt hungry, she would walk into the kitchen, feel the cold air, and say, "No. It is too cold. I would rather go to bed hungry than cook dinner in that freezing kitchen."
She felt frustrated and sad that her kitchen was so cold.
She almost started to hate her beautiful kitchen until....
she realized that her cold kitchen was making her lose weight!
"What a wonderful kitchen I have built," She said to herself. "All my life I have tried to diet, but have never managed to lose a pound. Now, thanks to my cold kitchen, I can finally fit back into my jeans from high-school!"

Well, as is the way of life, the old woman grew older and older until one day, she died.
Her clothes were packed up
Her furniture was moved out.
Finally, her house (with its beautiful kitchen) was sold.

Once upon a summer, there were four best friends.
Once upon a summer, there were four best friends who needed a place to live.
They found a house with a beautiful kitchen.
They moved in.
Unfortunately, they didn't want to lose weight....
The end.

Jaron Get's the Priesthood!!

Jaron was given the Melchizedek priesthood Yesterday. All the the Wright family living in Utah and the Wright's from Oregon came to the Wilkinson center where we had a big cry fest then off to Grama's house. There were a lot of cars going to Grama's house, but few cars coming back to provo. In fact there was only one car going back to Provo, good thing I have a wagon!

We jammed 8 people in my little subie. We had a blast as cousins and friends all crammed in and to top it off, Christian called and was able to talk to a car load of some of his closest cousins and best friend Steve.

Fun Saturday in Ogden!!!!

This Saturday Tucker, Tucker's Cousin Taylor, and my cousin Dawn Noelle (Dawn is the sister of my cousin's husband)and I all went up to Ogden to see Tucker's sister Janis and her Husband Greg and little one Troy. Greg was in charge of the skeet shooting activity so we all went out to an open field and learned how to shoot a moving target. It was really fun, mostly cause everyone was really safe with the guns, which was a relief cause guns kinda freak me out. Dawn and Greg and one other guy from Greg's ward tied for first. It was Dawn's first time, so we were all highly impressed with her new found skills.

After shooting we went back to Janis's and played phase 10 while she made us amazing tiny spicy chicken with rice. After we ate Tucker set up his photography set in their dinning room and took pictures of troy and the rest of the family.

Once pictures were done we ran up to the rocks behind Janis's house and climbed. We only had two hours and 5 people to climb so Tucker and Taylor ran on ahead while we all unloaded the rest of the gear. The Ts set up the ropes and we were climbing. Everyone did great, and the routes were perfect lengths with varying degrees of hardness which made it a blast!

We hurried and finished and started on our drive back home. We made Taylor drive home so that we, Tucker and I, could do our homework in the back.

It was a really fun day!

Happy Birthday to My Favorite Sister!!!!!!

This is my sister Michelle Marie Larson looking like the angel she is with the sun hallowing her head!

Chelle is turning 30 this year. What a gift to the world she has been. I know some really good people in my life, but I have to be honest and say that none can top my sister. Since I can remember, which is really far back, she has always been a great example and friend to me. When we would get in fights she was always the one to try and make it right first, when she learned something cool at school she couldn't wait to share it with me, even if it meant keeping me up all night till I really understood what ever concept it was she was trying to help me understand. You know, really important things like how to round numbers, how to read novels and how to wear floral print. (sorry that the floral print never stuck Chelle, you did your best!)

Chelle has always been someone who I really look up to and try to emulate in my life. I know this can be a lot of pressure on a person, but she is a constant, not just for me but for all those who know her. People are drawn to her compassion, intellect and the genuine interest she has in everyone she meets.

She traveled the world way before I had a chance to and ever since I have been trying to catch up with her. She served a mission in Korea and while she was still on her mission, every Korean I met from near where she served had heard of her legend and let me know how amazing as a sister she was and how special she made them feel. She has beautiful, loving, FUN kids, who are that way because of the great people her and Brig (her husband) are.

Although Chelle is very busy with family and business she genuinely cares about what is happening in the world and how it is affecting people. She seeks to understand how best to approach new ideas and is very slow to take a position on something that will affect people, even if she doesn't know them personally, because she cares that deeply about humanity.

Chelle is a peacemaker and has and will continue to create a feeling of peace, comfort and strength where ever she goes and what ever she is involved in. The world is a better place because of my sister and I could never express how thankful I am for her and how much she means to me, and the influence she has had over who I have become.

Chelle, I wish you the best 30th birthday you could ever ask for. If I were there I would throw you a huge party!!!! With dancing, and music, and a few good board games and puzzles! Since I can't be there we will have to settle for that kind of party over Thanksgiving.

I love your guts!

Blitz time again!

This message has been authorized by the Law School Technology Committee.

Dear Blitz Crazies:

First off, the Ladies of Blackacre Blitz want to express their deepest Grid-Iron Love for all the Blitz Crazies that showed up for last week’s challenging game. The sidelines were packed with law school friends that had sound judicial review of all the referees’ decisions against the Blitz. You made the refs’ heads spin!

While the Blackacre Blitz ladies suffered a tough loss last week , the March for the Championship T-Shirt IS NOT OVER.
No matter how awful the referees’ calls, no matter how whiny the opposing team, no matter how cold the night air, the Ladies of Blackacre will be bringing the Blitz ON EVERY DOWN TONIGHT!

Come support the Blackacre Blitz TONIGHT @ 9:15PM @ the NEW Intramural Fields (2nd set of fields, going N on Univ Ave).

And if you have any doubts about the level of play of our Blackacre Blitz, check out the attached little clip...
(I recommend turning up the sound…)

Much Grid-Iron Love,

The Blackacre Blitz

Getting Pumped for the Game!

I know I have already done quite a few posts about this. But I thought just one more wouldn't hurt. I have been so anxious about the game tonight that it was important to come straight home and figure out what kind of head gear I was going to wear to keep my hair out of my eyes. Here is what I settled on.

Notice the earphones in my ears. Study time has taken over my life. I am now listening to all the classes I either didn't go to or didn't pay attention to while I was there.
