Down the Coast of California

We stayed at a really cool hotel where the rooms opened up to the cliff and you had a beautiful view of the Ocean. There was a great restaurant there and Tucker treated us to an amazing meal. I had salmon with mango and macadamia nut. I am still thinking about it!
Tucker got the Cornish Game Hen. He had never tried it before, and seemed to like it despite the fact that it took him an hour to get through cause he doesn't like to get his hands dirty.
Us on the coast. We drove from San Fransisco Down to LA. I was amazed at how beatiful it was. I have always been partial to the Oregon Coast line, which I still think is amazing, but I have to say that California gives it a run for its money.

More San Fran

We went and got a Hot Fudge Sunday at Ghirardelli square. Up above where we got the sunday was this beautiful little fire pit on a balcony. We asked the girl if we could sit up there and she said that it wasn't part of Ghirardelli, but it was a hotel. So we were determined to get up there anyways. We found a doorway that said service personel only, we figured that we give a lot of service, so the door was meant for us. We followed it and we throught a couple different flights of stairs and doors until it opened up to the hotel and we walked right onto the deck and enjoyed our sunday in the heat of the fire pit. Beautiful! Tucker and I are bound to get ourselves in trouble one of these days, but for now, we will keep enjoying the adventures!
We went up to the Watch Tower just before sunset. It was a perfect time to catch the day light and night time views.
The Golden gate bridge with Ghirardelli in the foreground
San Fran City Sky Line
The Bay bridge
On Presidents day we planned to go into San Fran again, but we got side tracked playing with my cousins. We played all sorts of games and had lots of fun laughs. Thanks to the Davis family who let Tucker and I crash their place for a few days!

Valentine's Day

This dog guy suckerd us into taking a picture with his dogs, then asked Tucker for $10 after wards. Of course Tucker couldn't turn him down. His dogs were tired and starving. I sat down as well, and we took a picture, but that little dog in the middle kept growling at me like he was going to bite!
One of the cool street performers. He is walking on glass.
On the boat back, I wanted to stand on the front like in Titanic

Tucker's Photo skills at work on my little camera
Tucker checking out a photo op.
Going into the little alley way
Tucker was cracking me up

Tucker striking his favorite pose. He didn't think I could take the picture as quick as I did. His comment right after was, "oh great, your gonna put that on the blog aren't you?" So I had to keep my promise

Swinging on the cells
Goofy Head Set Couple, the audio tour was pretty good. I think I liked the old lady ranger story teller the best though.
View of San Fran from outside
Looking out the little widow from inside the prison
I think I went a little crazy in my two minutes in the cell
Tucker does a pretty good crazy expression, I think the head phones are a nice touch
Our view of Alcatraz coming in on the boat

For Valentines day, Tucker and I went to Alcatraz then spent the rest of the day walking around on the peer. Some have criticized Tucker for not being more romantic for Valentines day, but it was my best Valentines day ever. It was a beautiful day with a little rain, which I love!

Its Official!

video

Yesterday, Tucker and I got officially engaged. He proposed right after this video was taken. Really sweet. I am super excited and very thankful that I get to be with him. He picked this ring out without any insight from me, except that I didn't want a diamond. Love him.

Hot Pots, in Spanish Fork

One of the things on my list to do while tucker was in was to go to the warm springs in Spanish Fork. We planned on the hike being 2.5 miles each way. When we got there at 6pm the road was blocked off. There were a bunch of other people there who were deciding whether or not to make the trek. They said it added another 4 miles at least. It was probably around 5 or six more. So our 5 mile hike turned into a 14 mile + hike. Good thing we brought 1 nalgine, and halls caugh drops, and we hadn't eaten since breakfast. Made it super adventurous. We went with my cousin Aric, who Tucker stayed with while in town. It was well worth the hike!!

Last of the beard

This is the last day that Tucker had his beard. It was super handsome, but he had to visit his bishop the next day and since his bishop thinks you can't go to the temple if you have a beard, we thought the right thing to do would be to shave it off. He was going to have to shave it to go back to work anyway.

Night in Park City/ Sundance

Last Wed. we got to go to Sundance and hang out with friends from law school. We had a lot of fun, but the movie was horrible, so that was a let down. After a few minutes of being out in the cold I realized that I definitely wore the wrong coat and Tucker switched with me so I could have his down. He looked damn sexy in my skin tight jacket.

Snowboarding, Ski bowl

Nathan, the pickle, Chris Hodges on skies, Patrick the tall one and Tucker and I all up at the top of the mountain, it was a beautiful day of skiing!

Birthday Fun

I got to spend my Birthday with my family, and Tucker and his Brother Patrick. We had a lot of fun doing a lot of nothing and everything. Hailey and mom did a combined effort with Hailey making the cake and mom throwing together the best frosting ever. I am now officially 28, getting up there, but it feels pretty good.

Tucker's Beard Progression

Tucker has had the chance to grow his beard out this break while he is not having to work for a while. I for one am a BIG FAN!

Short story, by Maria Burnham

There Was An Old Woman; or, The curious incident of the missing insulation
a story based (loosely) on true events

This story is lovingly dedicated to the memory of EDNA, who really liked wallpaper and renovations.

Once upon a summer, there was an old woman.
Once upon a summer, there was an old woman with a garage and a Big Idea.
The old woman was handy with her hands, so she took her garage and her Big Idea and with her hands she made... a brand new kitchen!
It was very hot that summer so the old woman said, "I will make this kitchen cool and airy. That way I will never feel too hot while I am cooking."
She put in windows.
She laid big red stones on the ground.
She installed appliances and counter tops.
When she was done, the kitchen was everything she had imagined. But she had forgotten one thing:

Insulation.

"no matter," the old woman said. "I will just add a fireplace. Then, when it gets cold in the winter, I will build a fire to keep me warm."
The old woman enjoyed her cool kitchen all throughout the summer.
She even enjoyed it in the fall.
But when the winter came, she realized that her kitchen was Too Cold!
The fireplace did not keep the room warm enough. Working hard did not keep her warm enough, either.
The olive oil froze in the cupboards.
The ice cream did not melt when she left it on the counter tops.
Icicles hung on the inside of the windows.

The old woman hated the very idea of cooking in her cold kitchen. Every time she felt hungry, she would walk into the kitchen, feel the cold air, and say, "No. It is too cold. I would rather go to bed hungry than cook dinner in that freezing kitchen."
She felt frustrated and sad that her kitchen was so cold.
She almost started to hate her beautiful kitchen until....
she realized that her cold kitchen was making her lose weight!
"What a wonderful kitchen I have built," She said to herself. "All my life I have tried to diet, but have never managed to lose a pound. Now, thanks to my cold kitchen, I can finally fit back into my jeans from high-school!"

Well, as is the way of life, the old woman grew older and older until one day, she died.
Her clothes were packed up
Her furniture was moved out.
Finally, her house (with its beautiful kitchen) was sold.

Once upon a summer, there were four best friends.
Once upon a summer, there were four best friends who needed a place to live.
They found a house with a beautiful kitchen.
They moved in.
Unfortunately, they didn't want to lose weight....
The end.

Jaron Get's the Priesthood!!

Jaron was given the Melchizedek priesthood Yesterday. All the the Wright family living in Utah and the Wright's from Oregon came to the Wilkinson center where we had a big cry fest then off to Grama's house. There were a lot of cars going to Grama's house, but few cars coming back to provo. In fact there was only one car going back to Provo, good thing I have a wagon!

We jammed 8 people in my little subie. We had a blast as cousins and friends all crammed in and to top it off, Christian called and was able to talk to a car load of some of his closest cousins and best friend Steve.

Fun Saturday in Ogden!!!!

This Saturday Tucker, Tucker's Cousin Taylor, and my cousin Dawn Noelle (Dawn is the sister of my cousin's husband)and I all went up to Ogden to see Tucker's sister Janis and her Husband Greg and little one Troy. Greg was in charge of the skeet shooting activity so we all went out to an open field and learned how to shoot a moving target. It was really fun, mostly cause everyone was really safe with the guns, which was a relief cause guns kinda freak me out. Dawn and Greg and one other guy from Greg's ward tied for first. It was Dawn's first time, so we were all highly impressed with her new found skills.

After shooting we went back to Janis's and played phase 10 while she made us amazing tiny spicy chicken with rice. After we ate Tucker set up his photography set in their dinning room and took pictures of troy and the rest of the family.

Once pictures were done we ran up to the rocks behind Janis's house and climbed. We only had two hours and 5 people to climb so Tucker and Taylor ran on ahead while we all unloaded the rest of the gear. The Ts set up the ropes and we were climbing. Everyone did great, and the routes were perfect lengths with varying degrees of hardness which made it a blast!

We hurried and finished and started on our drive back home. We made Taylor drive home so that we, Tucker and I, could do our homework in the back.

It was a really fun day!

Happy Birthday to My Favorite Sister!!!!!!

This is my sister Michelle Marie Larson looking like the angel she is with the sun hallowing her head!

Chelle is turning 30 this year. What a gift to the world she has been. I know some really good people in my life, but I have to be honest and say that none can top my sister. Since I can remember, which is really far back, she has always been a great example and friend to me. When we would get in fights she was always the one to try and make it right first, when she learned something cool at school she couldn't wait to share it with me, even if it meant keeping me up all night till I really understood what ever concept it was she was trying to help me understand. You know, really important things like how to round numbers, how to read novels and how to wear floral print. (sorry that the floral print never stuck Chelle, you did your best!)

Chelle has always been someone who I really look up to and try to emulate in my life. I know this can be a lot of pressure on a person, but she is a constant, not just for me but for all those who know her. People are drawn to her compassion, intellect and the genuine interest she has in everyone she meets.

She traveled the world way before I had a chance to and ever since I have been trying to catch up with her. She served a mission in Korea and while she was still on her mission, every Korean I met from near where she served had heard of her legend and let me know how amazing as a sister she was and how special she made them feel. She has beautiful, loving, FUN kids, who are that way because of the great people her and Brig (her husband) are.

Although Chelle is very busy with family and business she genuinely cares about what is happening in the world and how it is affecting people. She seeks to understand how best to approach new ideas and is very slow to take a position on something that will affect people, even if she doesn't know them personally, because she cares that deeply about humanity.

Chelle is a peacemaker and has and will continue to create a feeling of peace, comfort and strength where ever she goes and what ever she is involved in. The world is a better place because of my sister and I could never express how thankful I am for her and how much she means to me, and the influence she has had over who I have become.

Chelle, I wish you the best 30th birthday you could ever ask for. If I were there I would throw you a huge party!!!! With dancing, and music, and a few good board games and puzzles! Since I can't be there we will have to settle for that kind of party over Thanksgiving.

I love your guts!

Blitz time again!

This message has been authorized by the Law School Technology Committee.

Dear Blitz Crazies:

First off, the Ladies of Blackacre Blitz want to express their deepest Grid-Iron Love for all the Blitz Crazies that showed up for last week’s challenging game. The sidelines were packed with law school friends that had sound judicial review of all the referees’ decisions against the Blitz. You made the refs’ heads spin!

While the Blackacre Blitz ladies suffered a tough loss last week , the March for the Championship T-Shirt IS NOT OVER.
No matter how awful the referees’ calls, no matter how whiny the opposing team, no matter how cold the night air, the Ladies of Blackacre will be bringing the Blitz ON EVERY DOWN TONIGHT!

Come support the Blackacre Blitz TONIGHT @ 9:15PM @ the NEW Intramural Fields (2nd set of fields, going N on Univ Ave).

And if you have any doubts about the level of play of our Blackacre Blitz, check out the attached little clip...
(I recommend turning up the sound…)

Much Grid-Iron Love,

The Blackacre Blitz

Getting Pumped for the Game!

I know I have already done quite a few posts about this. But I thought just one more wouldn't hurt. I have been so anxious about the game tonight that it was important to come straight home and figure out what kind of head gear I was going to wear to keep my hair out of my eyes. Here is what I settled on.

Notice the earphones in my ears. Study time has taken over my life. I am now listening to all the classes I either didn't go to or didn't pay attention to while I was there.

Carrel Buddies

You can tell when it is getting to the end of the semester when everyone is actually at their carrels studying. This was the first time all semester where we have all four been there.

Blitz Practice

This was at practice last night. We ran a ton of new plays and tried people out in a few new positions. We practiced hard and stayed focused thanks to Nikki's amazing coaching with Maggie towing the line.

We woke up this morning stocked for our game only to find out that one of our best receivers will not be able to make it to the game. This was a huge blow as our other really good receiver will also not be able to make it. Now we still have good players, but these were our two tallest most skilled with their hands players. They both also are awesome defenders.

So now we are redoing our whole offense for the game tonight. Meeting at 6:30 when the game starts at 7:15, we will have to run all the plays again and try to understand what we are doing in our new positions.

Its been the talk of the law school, with little Black Acre Blitz huddles after every class as we pump each other up and scramble to figure out how we will cover our weak spots.

So, if you are reading this, say some prayers for us. Loosing is not an option, though if we do it knocks us down to the losers bracket and we will have to fight our way back up.

[SBA] Blitz Laid Down the Law

These messages were sent out to the Law school by Blackacre Blitz Center super star and BYU Law School SBA president Naseem Nixon.
This message has been authorized by the Law School Technology Committee.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!?!?!?

It's flag football playoff season...and guess who's ranked NUMBER 2 (yes #2) in the top Women's Division???
The law school's own BLACKACRE BLITZ!

We are playing TONIGHT at 7:15pm on FIELD 1 (intramural fields west of the football stadium - off Univ. Pkwy).

The Blitz need some law school love and support, so come on out! Not sure if the trip is worth it? Well, here are some comments about the team reported at previous games...

"BLITZ defense is beautiful...just beautiful...." (- Mark Atuaia, running back coach for the Cougars)

"Dave Nixon thinks he can sack a QB? He needs to watch the skillz of Debbie Snow. Now that's a rush." (- Bronco)

"Tort on 3 gets them every time..." (- dedicated Blitz Sideline Superfans)

"That Maggie is like a bee spinning around! Nobody can catch her!" (- Eric Christensen...Blitz supporter & donor)

"QB Nikki Davis has guns...period." (- Brandon Howick, fake coach and sideline pretty boy)

SEE YOU TONIGHT!!!!

Dear Law School Sports Fans,

The snow was falling. The cold was setting in. The electoral votes were flowing for Obama. And the Blackacre Blitz were taking the field under the night sky yesterday at 7:15pm.

The game had a rough start. Blitz star rusher Debbie “the rushing blizzard” Snow was late to the game because her car battery decided to die after she left her headlights on at her externship in SLC. Blitz receivers were having trouble holding on to the slippery bullets thrown by Captain Nikki “the gun” Davis. The refs for the game must have made a deal with the devil, because all of the calls were going in favor of Blitz opponents “Hades Ladies.” But we all know that the devil will not prevail against the J. Reuben Clark’s Blackacre Blitz. That’s against the law.

At half-time, the score was 12-6, Hades Ladies.

The Blitz defense turned the game around in the second half as the gathering “Blitz Crazies” crowded the side-line and deafened Hades Ladies ears. Sophie “the line-WO-man” sacrificed her body and took a cleat to the lip (a very cute lip by the way) to stop Hades Ladies star QB from getting another yard. Debbie “the rushing blizzard” Snow sacked the Hades rather hellish QB twice! Hades Ladies didn’t get close the end zone. After an insightful timeout huddle, lead by football great and Blitz Crazy Mark Atuaia, QB Supreme Nikki Davis made a completion to Blitz “free agent” Emily for a Blitz touchdown and another completion for the extra point.

With 3 minutes left, the score was 13-12, Blackacre Blitz.

Then Blitz Co-Captain Maggie Craig sealed Hades' fait. At a whopping 5 feet tall, Maggie “the Bee” Craig appeared to have literally flown 2 feet off the ground to intercept a potential touchdown pass by Hades Ladies QB. She buzzed around the field, breaking Hades defenders ankles left and right. With seconds left, the Blackacre Blitz held on to the ball to complete a triumphant win against the Hades Ladies, 13-12.

And there you have it folks. Blackacre Blitz remains undefeated, and the march for the Championship t-shirt continues. Stay tuned for when the Blackacre Blitz hits the field again next week!

Much Grid-Iron Love,

GOOOOOO BLITZ

We played out first championship game last night. It was the first time that we actually played a team that was able to be competitive with us. We had a blast, and we freaked out a little, but by the second half we pulled it together and ended up beating them by 1 point!

You can tell that we are REALLY EXCITED!!!

Soph really took one for the team when she sacrificed her face, and she got that flag!

Anders saying hi to cousins

video

Cousins

video

Universal Studios

See, we were really there, Halloween at Universal's studios is like nothing I have ever experienced. There were really scary people jumping out at us all night. They had the whole placed all spookafied with fake fog and people jumping out of the fog like they were going to eat you. My favorite "ride" was a set walk through. They set up a bunch of their old sets and had dead looking people all strewn about. Some were dummies, some were not, and you really couldn't tell which was which until you were right next to them and they decided to freak you out. The sets were really cool, the best was a crashed plane.
Mmmm, pretty.
We went to Universals to Celebrate Blake's birthday. Here he is eating some food that was left at a table practically untouched. It was still warm apparently. I was tempted to join in, but figured I didn't want to take my chances when I was already feeling under the weather. Thanks Blake for letting me celebrate your birthday with you!
Taking a little break between all the spook mazes and chain saw massacres. We were both feeling a bit under the weather here, my ear felt like it was going to explode and Tucker's stomach felt like it was going to explode. Apparently the Simpson's ride was a little too dizzying for him.
Jurassic Park Ride. I screamed louder than I ever have before as we plummeted down the waterfall. I tore my ear drum on the flight into LA on Thursday night. My face is a little distourted here as I tried not to think about the pressure continually building up in my ear canal.

Tucker always jokes about buying a Dodge Charger someday, so this was a perfect photo opp.
