Maori Village

We had a fun time at the village. We got to learn a bit more about Maori culture. I nominated Tucker to be our chief, which was pretty fun cause we got to know a lot more people. They cooked our dinner in an underground oven. It was tasty.

Rotorua the Town

Rotorua is the cultural capitol of New Zealand. In this spot there is an Anglican Church facing the Maori Marae. The town in built on lava warmed steam baths. They bury their family above ground as they would hit hot water if they buried them below. We had a fun day here.

Caves in Waitomo

This was at the glow worm caves in Waitomo. The caves were sweet! We just walked through cause we had Weston, but one of the caves you can go white water rafting in. The caves are filled with glow worms which light up the ceilings above the streams and rivers that runt through the caves.

Fox Glacier and Bungy Jumping

We went bungy jumping off the original bungy jumping bridge. I was scared. We jumped together and Weston was pretty sad thinking we probably were not coming bad. We probably should not have let him watch, he will probably be traumatized for life!

We are in front of fox glacier here. It was beautiful. Next time we go we are going to take a tour up on the glacier.

Milford Sound

Weston Weighed in at 9.5 kilos.

Milford Sound was really pretty even though it was pretty foggy.

Doubtful Sound

This was down in the power plant. They built a power plant to get energy for an aluminium smelter. The water goes from the lake, down a tunnel, through generators and then shoots into the sound which is lower than the lake. The tunnel to get to it is 2 kilometers long and it is big enough for two busses to fit in.





We went on the doubtful sound tour. It is the biggest of the fiords on the southern tip of the south island. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

On the Way at at Mt. Cook

Mt. Cook

Mt Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand. It is also one of the most technical hikes in the world. The first to conquer Everest trained on Mt. Cook.

These lakes around it are glacier run off and are this cool milky turquoise color.

Seals in Kaikora

This was in Kaikora on the east coast about two hours north of Christchurch. There was a bunch of baby seals right off the road about two minutes walk up a stream. Their mom's leave them for the day while they go get food and the baby's have a ball playing in the stream and water fall.
